This fixture is extremely suitable for the use of heat lamps.

If you get a litter of puppies, it is recommended to hang a heat lamp above the whelping box.
In a heated room, a 150-watt heat lamp is fine. This lamp brings the temperature to about 7 to 8 degrees above the ambient temperature.
In an unheated room, a 250 watt heat lamp is better. (note you need another fixture)

You can hang this lamp above the whelping box. You start at about 50 cm above the bitch and then measure the temperature. If it is too hot, hang the lamp a little higher, too cold a little lower.

Of course you can also work with a dimmer.
